anyone with exp know to go about rewinding a cd-rom motor to use in a heli?

right now i ripped apart 2 old cd-roms that dont work anymore, and the motors dont look like they will work... maybe ebay?

any suggestions?

Ryan,
Tell us more about the heli and the motor you want to replace. You might also show some pictures of the CDROM parts you have on hand.
Converting CDROM's normally takes new magnets and rewinding the stator for the new application. Other parts like ball earings, new bearing tubes, cans, and mounts are sometimes needed.

well then, maybe ill have to check ebay out for some scrapped parts, or maybe i should just buy a new motor?

sorry i havnt replied since last weekend, been occupied with class and work

i read up a little bit on how people have been pulling out the old magnets and rewinding them, i dont have much exp with winding motors, so i took a brush motor and upgraded the winding and it worked pretty well, although it got pretty warm.

you said to use rubbing alcohol or paint thinner to remove the existing glue?

which motors generally work best (ie, sony cd rom, nec cd rom, etc...)

do you use any lubricants after rewinding?
