Ive been using this Berkley Digital scale for over 10 years now, and the bugger still has the same freaking battery in it!
Under 20 bux at WallyWorld, and it also works as a thrust meter!

I've also been seen carrying the digital bathroom scale out to the shop on occasion for the over 50 lb stuff, and I've got a small digital postal scale for super light stuff, the fishing scale is clearly the most used for me.

I got a cheap little scale from Circuit CIty's website when they were still in business a long time ago. I weighed a motor with it once and confronted the manufacturer about it weighing more than what it was advertised at. They accused me of having a cheap out of whack scale and that's what was wrong.
Took the motor to work and weight it on an Air Force calibrated scale (don't think those are wrong when you're dealing with people's lives)....... same weight.

Been hunting around for a small scale that would measure small stuff as well as overall weights.
Harbor freight has a cheap penny scale that I have been looking at.

Looking for something small and compact that could go into the flight box, then I would need something for the build table to handle a bit more weight, and once again Harbor Freight has the larger one that Wrench66 posted.

Any suggestions from the crowd on a good do-all scale??
Not stuck on Harbor Freight for any reason, just found the small scale there.

I was actually able to build a small test stand for static thrust measuring for my digital scale.

I am using a Rapala Digital Scale. Quite happy with the results as it shows measurements both in lbs ans oz, having a water resistant design, Has memory to have the total of weights and much more.
As being a hanging scale with a hook it is too easy to weigh on it..!

Wow,,4 yrs ago. time literally flies.
Bought both Harbor freights I linked to above. Still clicking along with both of them. The bigger one has seen double duty with my Pyro chems and have matched it as far as repeatability and low count measurements with my buddy's $950 uber spendy chemical scale of the same style and design.

My $5 over counter scale was within reasonable tolerance of the $5000 dollar scale ! But of course my $5 scale cannot go to the precision of the lab one.
Todays electronics give extreme accuracy that was unheard of in days of dial analogue ... with prices that are just so cheap as to be ridiculous.

I could not find a scale that would give me the accuracy at the low end around 1-16 oz, and be able to weigh the entire plane.
I bought a small scale that maxes out at 1lb, but it has very good resolution at light weight. I use it to check small items and to mix epoxy in the correct ratios. West Systems Epoxy mixes at a 4.6 to 1 ratio.
I just put a small paper cup on the scale and put in the correct amounts. If you use fillers in epoxy, this is the only way to get a consistent mixture. You can't just guess at it.
I also have this scale
http://www.ebay.com/itm/USSHIP-Porta...AAAOSwd4tUKeAk
I can weigh anything up to 88lbs. I hang my planes from the ceiling so most of them have their own cradle made from strong cord, this make it very easy to weigh the entire plane. Or just weigh sections and add it up.
Both are small and easy to carry.
I also tie a loop around the tail of an airplane and tie the luggage scale to a post, for thrust.

My Kitchen digital scales ...
0 - 2kg at 1gr graduation
0 - 5kg at 2gr graduation.
Good enough for me ...
My hanging fish digital I use for thrust tests and overall model weights is up to 40kg but at 10gr graduation.
