Default Buzzard Models Fokkerish DR1 Cartoon Airplane

Just built three of these Fokker DR1's from Buzzard Models https://www.buzzardmodels.com/. The kits went together easily and they really look great flying. The plane has lots of dihedral and turns well for only having elevator and rudder. The kits include wheels, hardware and even a cartoon pilot ( the pilot in the picture is one I made) !! I have 3 more kits coming on Monday and will post pictures of the kits.

Thanks for posting Madspadder and welcome to Wattflyer. Those DR1's look to fly very nice in a single basketball court. They seem very stable for a DR1. Looking forward to seeing the next models.

Thanks!! I have been out of the hobby for a while just getting back in now that I am semi retired. We are just starting our indoor season and have really enjoyed this kit I found on ebay. Ryan at Buzzard Models has been great to deal with and shipping has been in about 3 days!! I will try to post pictures and video as I build the next batch of kits. I am going to try ailerons on one and maybe modify the second one into a Sopwith.

The first picture shows the pilot that's included in the kit. The second shows the three just before I installed the motors. I also lowered the landing gear, added foam over the wheel rims and a wing on the landing gear to give it a better look which is shown in the first picture. I will post pictures and details for these mods when I build the next kits.

I assume that the kits come complete with motors, batteries and actuators. That makes them much easier since those items for models this small are not easy to find.

The kits come with all hardware and wheels , you need to buy the motor, esc., and servos. The plane is actually good size having a 25" wingspan. The directions call for 3.7 gram servos . I used a Sunnysky 2204 1800kv motor which was may more power than needed.
https://sunnyskyusa.com/collections/...nt=45677144911 John at Hobby Town is getting me this motor for the next 3.

I think we might try to fly the Snoopy Dog House with the Fokker next week. I have never flown it inside such a small gym , but may give it a try. Probably should design a smaller version

Here are the next two color schemes I am going to use on kits I am building for club members. Not sure how well the fuselage graphics will fit. I also shot some video of the wheel and landing gear mods, There is also some video of how I applied acrylic paint with my girl friend's make up brushes!!

You used your girlfriend's make up brushes? Would that be former girlfriend at this time? If not she must be very understanding and obviously a keeper.

I think she knew what she was getting into when she started dating me. Very supportive, I have planes everywhere. We jokingly call it " Plane Therapy".

Thanks Don. These are really fun little planes that are easy to build, lots of color schemes and fly well for a triplane. Still working on some video. Plan to fly the new ones on Wednesday and maybe get some more video.

Just got back from the bar, I mean gym, where we flew these 5 Fokkers tonight. We even flew the Snoopy Dog House !! Two of these had new motors with an 8 X 4.3 and an 8 X 4.7 prop. Went home with two less planes, Paul and Bud, hope you enjoy!! Hopefully got some good video and will post tomorrow.

When you said two less planes, at first I thought they had been rekitted. Glad to hear they are in good hands in one piece.

I built 6 planes because I thought our club would be flying at the local High school again this year. Unfortunately we were not able to fly there this year. We usually have around 30 pilots and I knew some of my flying buddies would want one. I have to admit , it is fun bringing 5 planes and flying all of them on one night.

I love indoor flying but it looks almost a necessity where you live unless you are a polar bear.

Been pretty cold here, supposed to be warmer tomorrow. Still working on getting some good video. Buzzard Models now has a power combo for the Fokker:

They look great flying around. Would be interesting to see them all in the air at once.

We had 3 up in the air but nobody to shoot video. I also flew the Snoopy Dog House, still waiting for the video from my brother.

They look to really fly nice. Stable and slow.

They fly really slow for the size. We flew one with a 3 cell and it really tore up the gym. Not sure the 3mm foam would hold up if we get to crazy with it.

Building a new Dog House to go after the Red Baron. Hope it's up to the task.
