Default Harmon Rocket Conversion

Hello everyone...

Been working on my first e-conversion after flying park stuff for a while and wanted to get opinions... I saw this kit and my brother got me her as a gift...

Summary as follows:
  • Harmon Rocket (50 inch / 558 sq in wing)
  • E-Flight Power 46
  • Castle 60
  • Master Airscrew 13X8.5
  • Flight Power 14.8v 5000 mah
  • Spektrum DX7
  • JR Digital 821 all around
  • Static pull of 65 amps max & 960 Watts
  • Approx flying 56 amps & 830 Watts
  • 6.6 lbs vs 6.4 for Gas
  • Approx 120 watts / lb
Major Mods included
  • Battery Tray creation (all forward for cg)
  • Cooling holes throughout and cowl
  • Exit air holes in back
  • Support rods for Horiz stab
I flew her once last weekend with a XOAR 14X7 electric prop, and while ok, did not have quite the speed I was looking for, so I hope the 13X8.5 will do the trick.

Anyway, first one of these so I would truly appreciate feedback and comments...

Many thanks!

Did you get it sorted out yet? If you want more speed, going to a 5 cell lipo should help a lot. How do you like the power 46? I just bought one, just don't have a plane picked out yet. I want to put it on something that really spanks the glow version for the guys at the field.

Hello..... I am looking good with it now.... I got a Masterscrew 13X8.5 and the plane is flying great... very quick.... almost 10 minutes of flying time... and this is at almost 7 lbs... I switched out the spinner to a small tru-turn aluminum and it helped a great deal in effeciency as well...

Love the power 46.... i might go to 5 cells, but i am already pulling 65 amps static!

Default Harmon E-Rocket

Hello Bonefisher,

How goes the Harmon Rocket? I am looking at adding this one to my hanger. Probably use the the E-46 as well with 5s LiPo.

Did you make a battery hatch or just access by removing the wings?

Default Sorry for the delay

I remove the wing and built a cradle for the battery...

Let me know how it goes on 5S!

Default Harmon Rocket Conversion

Hi Bonefisher,

How is the Harmon Rocket going. Are you still flying it?
I'm currently putting one together using an Extreme RC 3520 Motor, 5Cell Lipo, 13 x 8 prop. 80amp ESC. Will also be using Spectrum DX7.. When I get to pick it up.

This is my first conversion, I have some concerns with the engine mount. Did you extend the fuselage or shorten the cowl to accomadate the motor. Did the rear mounted servos cause you to add much weight to the front end. It would be cool to see a couple more photos of construction if you have any.
