Anyone a member? I'm wondering if it's worth it for a purchase I may make.

I bought the club membership, but won't do it again. While you get a small discount and free shipping, most times you wait forever to get your stuff. This is especially true with the little common bits like crystals, servos, props, etc. I did order an aircraft from them and it arrived two days later, but it was the exception to the rule.

Gosh, I will renew again next year. I have saved the cost of the membership in shipping alone. Of course, all my RC stuff comes from online stores, since the nearest hobby shop is 90+ miles away. I can order small items I need without worrying about the shipping doubling my cost.

Plus the discounts are nice. Then if you don't save the cost of the membership in reduced prices and shipping, you get a credit against the next years membership.

I have ordered a lot of stuff from them and have never had to wait for anything. Well, I have had to wait on new items I ordered before they were available, but I got them quicker than I would have direct from Horizon.

I will certainly renew my membership.

This has me interested.

Ok, now that my favorite LHS has closed forever and the rest of the hobby shops in the area are kinda awful what is the average savings on say an ARF?

I just checked for the OP and the savings on a $499 ARF was $21.00, including shipping. If that is all you will order for the year, it is not worth it. But without a LHS, if I need an item that might cost $5, the shipping might be $5 and I would have to wait until I had a larger order to help offset the shipping. Now, I just order what I want when I need the item.

Other than not being able to touch and see the item, it is just like going to the LHS. Also, there is no sales tax that I would pay at the LHS.

Seems to be a Win-Win to me.

Well I pulled the trigger and bought the Electron Club membership. Also placed my first order for a couple of HS-81 servos.

My servos arrived in 2 days and I figure between sales tax, shipping and the small discount this saved me about $6 over if I had a local hobby shop that stocked these. Another 4 or 5 orders and I'll be ahead.

Since the only good LHS around here is now gone the savings on shipping alone will be well worth while.

So if you join, shipping is free, always, no matter the size of the order?

Yep. A small bag of screws or a 1/4 scale ARF. Free.

They even sent my 2 servos Priority Mail.

Yes that 's right, other companies would have you spend $100, $200 or more to receive free shipping but with your Electron Club membership all orders are shipped FREE! This includes single small items as well as double and triple oversized products! This feature alone will save you at least $5.99 per order, and with larger products you could save the cost of your membership with just one order alone

So are the discounts any good? Can someone post some examples of what kind of discounts on pricing they give?

About $5 off a $100 item.

I looked at a $399 ARF and it was $10 off.

I saved about 80 cents on each servo at their regular price which was already priced well IMHO.

No. Only spammer blood will do. Anything else will change the complexion of the wood grain finish.

That honestly is the only huge gripe for me. Of course that has nothing to do with AH's club deal.

For example. I was totally hot to get my hands on the E-Flite AT-6. I picked up the first one to show at my LHS. Got it home, opened the box to fondle, er, inspect. Yea, inspect the kit and decided I truly disliked it. Took it back to the LHS. I'd be very unhappy had I just ordered it in.
