Default Carbon Cub and DXE questions

So I just got this with some holiday Fun $$$, the BNF version since I had a DXE Tx I bought for other planes. It has a flap channel, unlike the DXe in the RTF package. That said, can I use that to operate the optional flap modification? The airplane manual only discusses the RTF version included DXe transmitter which clearly shows no toggle switches for either flaps or gear.
I also saw where someone had trouble with a mode switch being reversed, but after powering everything up today, I saw no anomalies except I did the process indoors and cancelled the GPS location mode, so I don't know if that feature works yet. While I do plan to do the maiden flight in beginner mode just to get it trimmed, I may want to try the auto land and fence modes at some point, but don't plan to use those.

Not really knowing the particulars of your plane and its Rx, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use the flap channel to operate the flaps.

Horizon chat line clarified-
The off the shelf DXe TX is a true 6 channel unit, and the mode switches, trainer / binding, etc. The RTF version is only 4 channel. Got the servo the other day and installed flaps today, as it was a little windy this morning so I decided to do some wrenching on the birds.
Got the throws set up and they work very smooth, hope tomorrow is another 75* but calm wind and we see how she flies.

I did get 2 flights in before my noon deadline for brunch with the ladies. Didn't try any of the fancy features except for the user friendly beginner mode. She flew really well and while I got about 4 minutes on the battery before I landed, I probably could have flown another 3 - 4 minutes. Did not try out the flaps in flight, but they did get hooked up and tested fine.
Flew the MEN trainer 4 flights before I did the maiden flight...call it nerves. Both went home with nothing bent or broken.
So I have to figure out how to video and fly at the same time - who knows FPV next?
