The New H-L Web Site
Well I've just looked over the new H-L web site and can say I am quite pleased with what I see.
The code monkeys H-L hired to do this earned their bananas. The site is both easy to use and attractive without being overly busy looking.
Great job Hobby Lobby.
Also I must add my delight at seeing H-L now accepting PayPal directly on their site/shopping cart system. Bravo!

HL site
I see we need to jump on the 'star' wagon.... I joined today - while it's still free.
I also see a wish list management listed, but I don't see how to add anything to the wish list. How can I actually make a wish list?

How do you tell if you're a star member or not? The link was not exactly clear on that.

I believe that I will be passing on the Crash Sales in the future. Plenty of places to buy parts and planes without having to buy a membership.
We are revising the page today and our apologies for any confusion. Membership at this point is completely free and there will always be a free version of membership. If we ever do a paid membership club we never want to leave anyone out - and the benefits will be clearly stated for those that want to join.
Thanks as always for your business, Jay

I have to disagree with you here Louis. I am a member of the Atlanta Hobby Electron Club and have saved more than it has cost me for membership. I'm overall very happy with them and will renew when this years subscription runs out.
I do have a few grumps about the 'new' H-L web site.
1. Slow.
2. Heli parts listing is kinda retarded. If I view the parts for an mCX for example, to view parts for another heli I have to uncheck the box next to the mCX, wait for the (slow) page to reload, the click the checkbox next to the heli I want to see parts for.
3. Just put all the flipping parts for any given model on one page as default. M'k?
4. Parts photos. Kinda hard to select the bits I need when they have odd non-obvious names from the manufacturer and no picture (Piccolo parts is a great example)
5. Go to the Bargain Hangar to look at on-sale items. The shopping cart does not carry through from the H-L site.
6. Shopping cart. At the top of the page you list the number of items in the cart. However to view these items you need to go all the way to the bottom of the page and click the 'shopping cart' link. (this one wins my king of the retarded award)
7. Did I mention the site is slow??

It is pretty much a given that HL is on the more expensive side of the market. Of late, customer service has been hit or miss, and with the new web site, it seems to be more of a miss.
On the plus side, I did order about $90 worth of goodies from HL last month, they would not match the vendor I had intended to use due to the fact that HL wholesaled to that vendor. But, HL did give me %15 off the total order. Not much for me to complain about there. Their sales rep offered me the %15 off because I was about to walk, and, I guarantee you, I would have walked. He did the smart thing and made a sale that I was about to take somewhere else.
The interesting thing about that is that the vendor I had originally chosen had lower prices than HL, the company they got the parts from, but were out of stock on some of the items. Now, if that vendor can sell to me at a lower price, then so can HL.
Thus, by paying that club membership, folks continue to enable HL to keep prices elevated. Of course, it is another attempt to build loyal customers, but when you have the sorrowful website that we see now, a good price ain't worth a hoot, if ya can't find the part!
For the HL fanbois, this is not a slam on HL, I feel this way about any vendor that uses the 'club' concept. I am a fanbois of no vendor, even the few that I often use, if they screw up, I go elsewhere. I don't what to hear any crap from them about how their mother had a hernia or the kid puked on the papers, or their supplier failed to come through. When a vendor has my dollar, I don't owe them a thing, they owe me. That being said, aside from the price, I have never had a bad customer experience with HL, the few items I have returned, they cheerfully took care of the problem.
It is business, simply business. Period!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
And then you order the Crash sale price item and ask for the $3.99 shipping. Great!!!! when I got my Visa card, OOPSS, full price. Ordered ten items so that was a great difference, wife noticed it right away.
Did get it fixed after a long wait on hold listening to the elevator music and how important the customer is.
Understand the site will be going back to the old format. We'll see.

Mr. Ragbag!
I hope you weren't fed BS also!! I like to order from H/L, because I receive the order a day or two sooner. They being closer to my locale. I would hope they would include more tech info. A good example is Towers website, Their Tech Notes leaves nothing to the imagination. Weights & measurements in US & Metric, & great pics. With links to Mfg's.
Later!

Check out HC's Website, they put 3 AXI's on, (silver & gold) & 2 went on backorder the same day! The remaining 1 is probably on backorder now.

Mr. MaxAdventure!
Have you been able to use the wish list? Or has ANYBODY been able to use IT ? How hard can it be?? Is my feeble mind missing something ?
Emailed support that I was unable to find the add to wish list link on the product pg. They replyed a few days later stating that had been corrected! Great, but still no link to the wish list!!!! The reply to my next email was to use the knowledge base!!! (AGAIN)
MANNNN!!!

Welcome to the internet, the faster it goes the more cluttered and slower loading they make the sites.
Pity me: I'm still on 57k.

Wish List!!
Yes!!
There is one, & it is operational!!
Mr. Pastore from H/L just informed me that you have to go to checkout & click on Gift Wrapped Icon!!
With my memory getting a little iffy, the wish list helps keeping track of what I might need in the future!!
