Default E-Week at Triple Tree 2016

It looks like the event has been moved up to the first week in August. Let's hope for better weather next year!

That may work better for me as it will probably NOT coincide with the Grand Fall Rod run here in Pigeon Forge.

It is hard to get away that weekend when there are 30,000+ street rods running around here in the park.

Something I just noticed. This year, you could sign up for $35 for the week. Next year, it's $16 per day - that's $96 for the week!
Luckily, I live close enough to pick a good day or two to fly during that week and just drive down. I really didn't mind spending the $35 this past event, even though I only got to fly one day before the skies opened up with record-breaking rainstorms. That wasn't their fault, but I can't see spending almost a hundred bucks in advance and hoping for good weather.

Just checked the TTA website again, and it appears as though the date for E-week has been changed. Now it's Sept 28 to Oct 2. No explanation as to why the date was changed.
Registration fees didn't change, though. :-(

2 weeks after HHAEFI. I have already made plans to attend this down in Georgia.

May be able to get over on the weekend this year. Friday or Saturday.

I'm hoping the weather co-operates enough for me to get in a couple of days of flying. I know one day will be RC with the Snafuey II and the Tigercub. I think the other day just may be spent in the control line circles. I'm ordering a Brodak 'Circus Clown' kit along with the stuff needed to electrify it. May as well get used to flying in a circle, I think. The search for a new club site has been fruitless so far. On a good note, control line planes are a lot less expensive to build than something the same size with radio control.

My buddy is coming down from Canada and will be camping over there for the week. I am hoping to get over for at least one day and night.

Weather forecast is looking good so far. Temps in the low 80s, mostly sunny, very little wind (<5MPH).

I just finished up converting the Snafuey bipe from RC to CL. The "first" Snafuey was CL, and was set up for clockwise flying. True to the original, this one will also fly clockwise. (I'm sure I'll get some odd comments, but I know why....) Going to the local ball field tomorrow to try it out and trim it, just to make sure it flies well.

I was hoping to get there earlier in the week, but I think I'll wait until Friday. Look for a small table with planes that all have the "No ARF" sticker!

I'm going to bring my big 1/4 scale PA-12 I shouldn't be too hard to find flying it or the Prometheus.

Did manage to get there Friday morning. I was surprised in that it wasn't busy at all. Talking to some of the others there, I guess the change of dates, and the price increase, really put a few people off.

Wasn't as calm as predicted. CL flying was out, because there was a danger of lines going slack when the wind gusted up. Both my RC planes, with light wing loading, were getting bounced around pretty well in the air, but I managed to get them on the ground again without incident. Unfortunately, the "optional" wing for the Snafuey II, which was on the ground near my table, got grabbed by the wind and decided to take off all by itself. Patch job on the covering coming up.

I packed up a little after lunch and headed home to meet with a contractor about adding a sun room to the house. Bill, looked around for your planes before I left but didn't see you.

I didn't get there til Friday afternoon. Sorry I missed you.

I was also surprised at the light attendance and the number of folks bailing out on Friday afternoon. The wind was negligible when I arrived and was non existent on Saturday. I flew all 5 planes I brought with and had a great time. Flew some night flying with my buds, and even did a little formation flying with a big Stinson with my PA-12 on the main line. That was pretty awesome!

Flew some more Sunday morning before the sun came up and then headed home around noon. Will go back for sure. What an awesome facility!

Yep, My PA-12 and it looked great in the air together, almost the same color scheme. My Buddy got a couple pics, can't wait to get them from him.
