Starting to put together pieces for my EG Pro. I'd like to use 2200 3s packs (from my Trex). I'd also like to use a Sorpion motor any suggestions on which? What about prop sizing? This is my first sailplane.

Hello Lextek, Welcome to Wattflyer!
The MultiplexUSA site recommends a 200-300 watt motor for this Sailplane, but I'd be cautious about putting 300 watts into a non-composite 2 meter powered glider.
http://www.multiplexusa.com/models/k...glider_pro.php
I'd say 175-225 Watts might be safer.
Based on that, my suggestion is the Scorpion 2215-18. GoBrushless has a power and prop link here;
http://www.gobrushless.com/shop/inde...&ref=SC2215-18
http://innov8tivedesigns.com/Scorpio...18%20Specs.htm
And using a 10.5V input, the 11" x 5.5"E prop (which would be pretty comparable to an 11' x 6" folding prop) you would be pulling 20.23 amps with 212.42 watts in, at 7250 RPM with a thrust (in grams) of 916 or 34 ounces. This is exactly the projected RTF weight listed by Multiplex, so the power-to-weight would be 1:1, very good for a powered glider. You could also go one size down, to a 9" x 5" folder, use less amps and still have thrust in the 170 watt range.
Hopefully some flyers with experience using different power systems will chime in, but based on the specs, this is my recommendation.
Good Luck!
Ron

You don't have to. I sanded the fuse on my EZ* because I was painting it. The zits won't affect the flight of the plane noticeably. If anything, they might act like tiny turbulators.

You are asking the right guy. I converted my EGE to a Scorpion Brushless and also I am using a 2200 3C Lipo. I did sand all of the bumps very lightly and painted with flat colors Tamiya spray paints.
Look here for photos:

Motor: Scorpion 3008-32
ESC: Scorpion 35A
Prop: 10x6 CAM Folder
Power: 3C 2200Mah Lipo
It climbs very fast at about 60 to 70 degrees. It can fly for hours. In lighter winds, you can use a smaller Lipo and get even more thermal soaring in. Enjoy!

I'm in Putnam County, NY. If you plan on thermal flying, you will do well with the lighter setup that I have. I tuck the 2200 Lipo completely back into the battery pocket to get the CG right. (had to carve out the pocket to fit it in there). I also had to add two quarters to the tail with my setup. If you go larger motor, you will end up quite heavier. I didn't realize the weight penalty until I borrowed an 1100MaH Lipo and saw a huge difference in "floatiness". I had an old timer at the field fly my EGE, who had never flown a glider, and he was very impressed. I honestly don't think you need more power than what I have. It will climb to a spec in the sky in about a minute or so and take forever to come back down.
I also fly my setup with a set of floats on the plane with no problems.
Here she goes!

I have a 160 watt set-up in my EGE using Multiplex BL400 6 turn, the stock prop and gearbox and 2S lipo. Plane climbs at about 45 degrees at 2/3 throttle. I rarely open it up all the way. I get lots of climbs. All up weight is 32 ounces. I use it for thermal soaring and slope soaring. Love it!

Gear lock and lube
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=MPUG3469&P=K
Gear is part of the Multiplex Gear and hub set - 33 2467 This is for the Easy Glider Electric and the Space Scooter. I don't think the package is available any more.
It is a 12 tooth pinion for 3.2M shaft. You gule it on with the Loctite glue in the above package that is available from Tower Hobbies.
