Nice pic straight on like that.
I got wheels tucked in the up position on mine now and added CF to the nacelles for more support since the fiberglass started to crack. Still flys great.

Good editing Crash! I think the A-10 wanted the MiniMag for lunch

Glad to see some life in this thread again. Mine will get started in January - pretty poor as it was _last_ years Christmas present

I have 3 planes waiting....a GWS Formosa,A10, and a Hyperion Extra 300 10e.

I'll probably start my A10. I have the GWS brushless motors for it with the 55mm fan units.

I got my brushless motors and fan installed last night. I'm glad I reviewed this thread and beefed up the fuselage. I sank my ESC behind the EDF unit.

Looks cool. I saw an A10 with a pusher setup. It had a small piece of plywood installed in place of the cone at the rear of the fuselage.

Default New build

I'm ready to start my GWS A-10 project (I'm new to EDF, previous RTF gasser)....I've spent the past countless hours reviewing and taking notes from the big three forum sites and put together a buy list that I think will suit my needs. I dont want a "pushing the envelope" of performance....I'm looking for good aerobatics (not sluggish) and long-term reliability to all components. Take a look.

A-10 slope kit - $31 at tower hobbies ---or--- kit and EDF55 V1 - $40 at hobby city
GWBLM005A (blue) inrunner motor - $28 X 2 = $56 at hobby city
GWS EDF55 V2 (improved impeller) - $12.50 X 2 = $25 at hobby city
30cm JR Y servo lead - $1.95 at hobby city
HXT D9 G2 2500/3S/20-30C battery (219 grams) - $35.10 at hobby city
HXT Lipo monitor 3S - $1.95 at hobby city
HXT voltage display - $3.97 at hobby city

Looking for your 2 cents on this equipment list and if you know of a better price. Also, please comment if I missed anything to help with the build and performance. I'll put this post on the other sites as well...FYI. Thanks.
Clint

Hi,
I have a rather tatty GWS A10 fitted with " Astro 010 Ducted Fan Motor mated to the Wemotec Micro Fan. It has outstanding performance, up to 36,000 rpm and up to 100 watt of power "
They are running on a single Ultrafly Apollo 25A speedcontroller with bec.
The speedcontroller is 2-6 lipo and duel BEC 25 A continious with cooling and 32 A surge for 15 secs.
The model weighs 18oz and the 3S1800 evo20 flightpower weighs 5 and a 1/2 oz and the 3s 2500 some 7 and a 1/2 oz.
I connected a 4S pack for a very short time out of interest and on the bench it read 32Amps!!! thats nearly 450Watts. Blew all my cyano bottles over and repositioned anything not tied down!!!
Flies well on 3s, at 20 A for both motors so not taking the chance on 4S. Bill

Default GWS A-10 Upgrade

Hi Guys: I hang at the other two forums and just joined this one. I have a A-10 too. What a hoot but I had to man it up with a pair of e-flight brushless motors. You can find pictures and very short video at my flying club's web site. Since I'm new here, they won't let me put in the link...bummer. So go to www(dot)flyingelectrons(dot)com and you will find it under the product reviews that I do.

We dragged my new A10 out with the EDF55 brushed set-up on three cells and I was very suprised at the power it had! I really was'nt think'in she'ed do more than plow air from what I'd heard and Was think'in before I built her she be a wimp but Boy-o-Boy was I ever wrong! she ain't no Barn-burner but she'll clip right along, I did build her super lite though ( lighter than GWS said it would weigh), But Yours will be a barn-burner for sure,, Post a few more times so you can down load your Vid here as alot of us don't go to the "Other-Site) HaHaaa!, Come on over to the Monkey-cage In the offtopic board and go to "ingnoe this tread "Tread and let us know more about youself,!! your new Bub, steve

Default Hi Steve. Thanks for reviving this thread.

I have found that the GWS ESC's are too slow for ducted fans.

Have 2 running Hyperions 5800KV on 12 v spinning EDF 40's...A-10

No farthur rpm increase above 3/4 of the throttle stick. Everything is fine & in synch. 12 x 5800, should go silent with humans. Or blow up the rotors.

Default GWS A-10 Upgrade

Hey Steve: You lucky person who lives in Florida. I'm in Wisconsin where we have about inches of snow on the ground. When there's no wind I do get out with my Zagi, Twister and T-28. I think I can link now. Here's my story on the A-10 and some other fun stuff I have.
