Default Hobby Lobby

Sorry to say that we had to use the Hobby Lobby crash warranty again.

Somehow a friend got a collar that goes on the shaft end of and AXI 2808-20 that was cone shaped on one end.
Not knowing this would make a difference he put the tapered end inward toward the C-clips on the shaft.
The tapered end bent the clips in and jammed the motor at high rpm and stopped it.
After one or two attempts this fried the motor.

After a telephone converstion with tech support they said to return it and they woud replace it for half price.
Not sure where that collar came from and they didn't question it.

This same fellow reversed the battery on and ESC and they replaced it under the same plan at another time.

Makes for good PR when a company does this type of support, knowing you damaged it.
We know for sure about the ESC, but not the motor.

EDIT: Forgot to mention he bought this motor over two years ago and it has been on the shelf, so thetwo year warranty was gone and he bought it from another vendor.
Being the importer/distributor they are the end warranty people.

hmmmm... yes, it's good PR, but doesn't HL have to pass the cost on to the rest of us to recoup their loss? This doesn't sound fair. If I damage something, I pay to replace it. The word "honorable" comes to mind.

By paying half, you are probablly paying their cost, or very close to it for the replacement. This makes the customer feel good and come back for more purchases with little or no cost to the store.

Mind you, that half may be close to HL cost, but your local hobby shop does not have this kind of margin. Since HL is the importer for much of what they sell, they have a margin advantage over everybody else. This is true of most but not all importers.
