Is anyone else using Hornet ESCs?

I purchased several Hornet ESCs from a U.S. seller on eBay. I'm having a problem with trying to get the one that I've tried using into Programming mode. The instructions state to turn on the transmitter and set the throttle stick to the maximum position. Then power on the aircraft. There are supposed to be several BEEPs and then the ESC will be in the mode to allow parameters to be changed. The same thing is true if you want to calibrate the throttle stick travel - you set the throttle to maximum and then power up the plane and after a couple of BEEPs, you push the stick down and the throttle range is set. With this ESC using the above procedure results in a continuous series of rapid beep that continue until I set the throttle to the minimum position. It never seems to go into programming mode - it just detects that the throttle is not at the minimum position.
Is anyone else using these Hornet ESCs and have you had any similar issues that you've been able to solve successfully?
Thanks in advance
