The machine has an excellent build with a sturdy plastic body and a telescopic wand made from stainless steel. Its rubber-like wheels help to move around smoothly, while the LED light button helps you see in dark areas. These thoughtful details in this vacuum design make it one of the top-rated vacuum cleaners for carpets and area rugs on the market.

Provided the grain goes the right way 3 x 1/8" 3 ply will be stiffer than one 3/8" 7 ply.
3 x 1/8 should have 6 laminations with the grain across the joint. 7 ply will only have 4.
Of course this does assume your glue is as good as that used by the ply manufacturer!

Adding to Q's reply ... if you use PU or Epoxy glue and make sure all 3 pcs are pressed together while setting - it should be stiffer and possibly stronger than the single 3/8 piece.
