Default Wrapping Up The Beginning...

I will take a moment to share where we are in addition to auditing. Above I introduced Aspire and ShopBot's DeskTop
X, Y, Z, CNC mill. For many this may not immediately appear to be relative to scratch building for fear of having to
learn CAD programs.

As my intention has been since starting this thread I want to share traditional tasks and how these are effected by
technology. This without having to go to the moon...to cross the street.

Again, here are the current fuselage "cross" sections: http://004edc4.netsolhost.com/B47/B4...ersJMaster.jpg

Here I share how you can "cross" the steet...without going to the moon.

Default Auditing Tools

Mike Wilson's maintenance manuals have provided valuable resources with which to audit. Below are a couple of extremely valuable audit files.

These were contained in the reop manual for replacement of formers after the internal ATO damaged the fuselage. The station
declarations on these have been validated...

The drawing below was scanned as a left and right half. As is the case with any printed drawing, it is subject to shrinkage. When
this happens it is not distributed evenly across the drawing. Additional abbaration occurs if the drawing is not perfectly flat on the
scanner bed when scanned.

In order to utilize the drawing below the top half of the right half has to be increased to match the balance of the perspective.
This is not difficult to do. I show it here in its raw form prior to being scaled properly.

Default CAD Scale Drawings of B-47

My father flew these jets back in the day so I have always been quite interested in them.

Many years ago (late 90's) I order CAD scale drawings from a guy in England. If there is any interest in seeing these, then contact me...
Cheers,

Michael

Michael,

Thank you for offering the CAD files. Yes, I would like to utilize them as another audit tool. I assume these are probably .dwg or
.dxf format thought there are many others we have the ability to work with.

Bob is doing an excellent job as he works "across" missing cross sections between what I created. A model this large mandates
as many cross sections across the virtual-terra-scape.

When 3D cut files are created as a result of my drawings they need to have the best uninterrupted slope... :^) I was amazed to
see abaritions created from what I considered minute differentials in my analog files.

With Aspire our process changes because the railing process resolves the issue of creating additional cross sections prior to Bob
receiving files.

Yes, we would like to obtain a copy of your B-47 CAD files. Please send them as an attachment to: [email protected] .

Just goes to show its never too late in a project for resources! Thanks for your contribution!

Ed

Michael,

(1) Your father piloted B-47's from when to when?

(2) Where was he stationed?

(3) Did he retain any personal memoriablia?

Unlike today's pilots, back-in-the-day pilots tended to make it a career and collected what could be considered a museum of
artifacts. These are documentation resource for scale modelers...especially with respect to the B-47 and WB-47.

Most resources I have acquired were classified until the late 70's to mid 80's. If it weren't for personal photos and recollections
it would have been exceptionally skinny.

I received a CD with complete stenciling for all versions of the B-47 today from the USAF.
Next task is to scale each properly for our model.

Default Salon Quality Dry Transfers.... :^)

No, I am not about to dump on you the way that DYI does. I promise I will post the proper product code aka barcode identity
of the transparency, gel, and hair spray. The above DYI needed to be explicit with respect to brand...and product. Unless the
product identity is known these retail items tend to change packaging and often the actual name of the sold-as-product.

I will set up a test bed of stencils transfered to a Flite-Metal covered surface....photograph it and post it back here for you to
judge for yourself how well the above process works.

As a former B47 Crew Chief Plattsburgh AFB 1958-1963 I want to say how much I appreciate your project.

Merry Christmas to you and yours from a getting older but still RCing and still remembering wonderful times working on and being a part of aviation history.

While I am not wanting to be seen as a sales agent for the North American distributor of the UP3D ABS
3D printer, I want to share the wealth with those who envision the value of adding a 3D printer to your
scale modeling toolbox...and only held back from doing this by about $1000 USD.

Note: v.1.0 and v.1.1 revs, aka versions of this printer are being offered in this sale.
