Wheel Brakes
#1

Does anyone have any info on mechanical wheel brakes? I remember seeing some years ago which were activated by cables attached to a servo. I think they were made by DuBro, but I don't see any mention of them now.

Hi Bill,
Well, after seeing your post I took a look at some of the links on the "Warbirds" sticky, figured Robart or one of the other retract gear-makers would carry mechanical brakes...nope.
Then I tried Tower and Horizon, a search for "Brakes" got me lots of R/C car listings but no aircraft brakes. A few hydraulic/compressed air systems, but no mechanical or servo-driven.
So, I'm out of ideas!
Good Luck,
Ron

Also a quick Google search found the part number from Du-Bro.
Part #157. they no longer list it on their web catalog. However this link claims to have them: http://www.happyhobby.com/hobb_html/dubro.htm

Yes, I have a Dubro brake. It's just a spring wound around a hardened steel drum which locates between the spokes on a wheel.
I also have a Kavan electric brake, as linked by Twmaster, fitted to a turbine model but it's bulky & quite heavy.
Brakes are required on turbine models in the US & other places, usually air operated & quite light & compact. Like most things turbine the biggest weight saving will be to your wallet. - John.
