Default World Models Zero ep

Hi friends
I bought the World Models Zero ep and found out early in the maiden flight that this motor is under powered for this model, or at least the motor that came with mine was. Its listed as a KM0283010 outrunner and I was wondering what would be a good replacement motor for this model? I have watched this model fly fine with the stock motor on YouTube video's but I didn't get anything close to that performance and almost lost the model.

I'm using a Thunderbird 36 esc with a Thunderpower extreem 2200 3 cell

Default world zero motor

the wm zero motor is perhaps one of the cheapest, most poorly made brushless motors i've seen. it's a sub-sub-basement "bargain".
a standard brushless 480 series motor (eflite 480) will work much better. also, get rid of the folding prop. still can't figure out why the included that.

i used the stock motor from a pkz corsair (and the prop) and it works 100% better.

haven't had much luck with my wm zero. despite adding a significant chunk of lead to the nose it flies like it's always on the brink of catastrophe. maybe that was the idea.
although it looks great, it's a very challenging plane to fly well.

good luck

That's odd, the motor that came with mine pulls mine through the air very well.

I found it to like tip stalling, and nosing over on touchdown if not very very careful.

Default wm zero motor

mine did too.not especially exciting performance but adequate.
the problems arise when you need to rebuild the motor.
you can't.
it's a one-piece deal. it's meant to be discarded.
that doesn't exactly smack of quality.

i stand by my opinion: a standard brushless 480 series motor will motivate the plane much, much better.

Thanks for the tip's. I'm going to give the E-flite 480 a try and set the controls with about 30% expo. On the first flight I went a little over the recommended control surface throws with no expo. I believe between this and the underpowered motor I was lucky to get the plane back at all. The plane was a handfull to fly but I believe it can be tamed down with the right CG and setup. If you check the videos on YouTube the plane seems to fly very stable with no bad habits so someone has figured it out.

This video is not my plane but one I found on YouTube

Took the Zero out again this morning with a new E-Flite 480 and with expo on the controls and this time the Warbird flew like it was on rails , Excellent performance and handling. The only problem was on the landing, I should have landed on the belly but I left the gear down and the grass tore off the gear. The damage is not bad but I have a spare wing and I think I will use it rather than rebuild the gear mounts right now. The gear should not have come off, very weak
