Default WIndfinder: Weather prediction tool for flying

Found this site that seems really well put together and quite accurate. The main things I look at are wind and precipitation when planning my flying activities. This would be useful year round but it is especially helpful for me in the windier & wetter seasons. Many weather sites and news broadcasts seem very hit & miss. Everyday here in the Pacific NW the weather broadcasters say winds are to be 5-15 which covers their ego but is not very helpful:

Here is a screen shot of typical data from the WindFinder page (it seems to update quite often):

I really HATE to load all the crap in the car and then not be able to fly and waste gas running around! It appears to be world wide and based on the needs of glider, hang glider, kite surfers etc. but very useful for RC. Nathan at checkthesock.com may add the wind data to his site which is also tied to weather stations worldwide.

Good find Dave, thanks. And it does indeed seem to cover the world outside the US. Not too sure about the accuracy yet since I'm sitting here watching the rain pouring down as it has been all morning while it's telling me there will be zero precip for the next 3 hours just like the last 3 hours .

But certainly worth keeping an eye on it to see how well it does compared to other available forecasts. Everything's relative .
