Default Whatever happened to DIY cables ?

So many times you read about a person having trouble connecting a charger or battery or whatever ... and they end up posting ... I'll order a cable to fit.

Whatever happened to making own cables ? Or modifying existing to cover your installations ?

I make XT60 to Deans (both male and female versions)

I make Deans to Tx charge plug (to use charger on TX)

I make XT60 to Tx charge plug ...

I make to fit hand battery drill batterys ... all sorts of items modelling and non.

I modify Tx chargers to suit Futaba and JR format by adding further plug to cable ...

In fact I reckon I just about cover most domestic, modelling and garden rechargeable / cable stuff with loads of DIY adaptors / cables etc.
Reckon if I had to buy such - I'd have spent a small fortune.

is the art of making own lost ? I know modelling can now near exist by just buying what needed and no assembly skills needed ... but is that it ?

Yes - I know an Old fart moaning again !!

Seems to be mainly caused by lack of a decent soldering iron and/or the skills/practice in using one. IMHO soldering is an essential skill for RC modelling in general and e-power especially.
But these days where RTF is king a lot of people just expect eveything to plug together.
